Rembrandt’s Children

Two promising contemporary Dutch artists make their local solo debuts, just in time to honor their forebear at the Met.

  1. 1. Folkert de Jong

At James Cohan; opens October 18

De Jong’s life-size tableaux (deftly crafted from painted insulation materials like Styrofoam) include harlequinlike misfits stacked in pyramid configurations atop each other and sky-blue oil drums.

  2. 2. Michael van den Besselaar

At Black & White; opens October 18

The Dutch painter’s photorealistic still lifes of vintage television sets add a bit of Pop to a classic Dutch motif.
