This Week in Performa

The second installment of New York’s performance-art biennial is here— what’s worth trekking out of your way for.

  1. 1. “Bring Me the Head of...”

    Through November 20 at Freemans

Stop by the popular restaurant for lunch and consume Serkan Özkaya’s Performa contribution— a dish conceived by Freemans chef Jean Adamson and listed on the menu as an artwork for sale.

  2. 2. “18 Happenings in 6 Parts (Re-doing)”

November 5 through 11 at Deitch Studios

A meticulous restaging of Allan Kaprow’s genre-defining 1959 “happening”— a choreographed spectacle of seemingly random (orange-squeezing, whistle-blowing) activities. It’s a nod to the origins of in-gallery performance, and a posthumous salute to the late artist.
