Radio Radio

Two Golden Age radio plays are freed from their audio-only captivity. While it's a decent idea, both were better off before: There's just not enough action in these one-acts. Dawn Seifert is game, playing a terrified invalid in Sorry Wrong Number with fervor. Her fear and distress are palpable, but in the end, suspense is lost because you can see the (lack of) action. Likewise Broadway's My Beat: Two Bullets, Twice Dead, where the cast of seven falls short of bringing the script alive. The direction is too static, and the scene changes interrupt the flow of a story that was meant to unfold without them. Dave Koenig and Mac Brydon try to pick up the slack with humor, but the stiffness of their colleagues can't be ignored. This drama needs some more melo-. -- ELLEN CARPENTER
