   August 25 through September 6

   Choreographers and artists both local and far-flung (Indonesia, Senegal, Japan) collaborate on fresh, site-specific works, casting dancers in locales far beyond the black box (including the steps of the U.S. Custom House).

2. 2. Dancenow NYC Festival

   September 4 through 10

   It’s not every little troupe that survives, so it’s encouraging to see the focal point of this year’s epic dance sampler: five companies that have flourished past their ten-year mark.
