Much like the mythical creature mentioned in the title, Believe in Me . . . a Bigfoot Musical has been stalked by word of mouth that it may be the next Urinetown. Set in the 1980s, the show follows a crusading documentary filmmaker (the terrific Christina Norrup) as she succumbs to the Hollywood machine (hilariously represented by Joel Kipper and Michael Vaccaro as wannabe producers who wear Timberlands with their suits) and agrees to make a film about the existence of Bigfoot. Norrup has great chemistry with Jamie Laverdiere, a vitamin store manager / conspiracy theorist with a shady past, and the company's collective vocal talents and many of Michael Holland's rousing, complex harmonies induce chills. Unfortunately, Holland falters with jauntier numbers, H. Clark Kee who plays the key role of a scheming Bigfoot expert is weak, and the story, which is supposed to be about the search for truth, leaves unanswered questions and dangling plotlines. It seems that the search for the next Urinetown continues. —Jada Yuan
