In The Manchurian Candidate, Angela Lansbury (age 37) convincingly portrayed the mother of Laurence Harvey (35), and it wasn’t the last time she displayed an uncanny knack for playing matronly. (Perhaps an early role in The Picture of Dorian Gray had something to do with it.) But time has been kind to the now-octogenarian, with the sudden result, in Deuce, that the actress finally has a chance to play younger than her years.
