Fall’s here, and suddenly we’re buried in serious films, important novels, and promising new TV shows, the likes of which haven’t been seen since superheroes invaded our multiplexes and stayed for the summer. But just because the temperatures are cooler doesn’t mean this season’s stinkers are any less aromatic: If The Words can teach us anything (besides the inadvisability of signing Bradley Cooper to a book deal), it’s to keep expectations in check, even in September.
