Best Yoga Studio

  • SLT Yoga

    37 W. 57th St., nr. Sixth Ave., Ste.; 701 212-355-3014

If you like sitar soundtracking your yoga practice, steer clear of SLT. But if you like downward-dogging to Fun. and Sky Ferreira, Zen—or a noisy version of it anyway—awaits in midtown. Founded by Erin Jacques, a former yoga director at Exhale Spas, SLT stands for “strengthen, lengthen, tunes” and is part of the Pilates studio with the same name. In her Flow classes (from $15), those tunes are occasionally so loud it’s easy to pretend you didn’t hear her ask for twenty more crunches. Her cardio-based Shred classes tread even farther from traditional yoga by incorporating plyometrics, hand weights, and glider discs. Still, don’t expect a chilled-out dance zone: The only thing Jacques likes better than party-rocking is making her students do planks (you’ll thank her later).
