The Pacific Standard Fiction Series
82 Fourth Ave., nr. St. Marks Pl., Park Slope; 718-858-1951
Pacific Standard, a “literary bar,” has been open only six months, but its fiction series has already featured readings by numerous writers, both established and up-and-comers—including Joshua Ferris (Then We Came to the End) and Porochista Khakpour (Sons and Other Flammable Objects) at the December debut of the series. The bar’s calendar is filled with more readings, of both fiction and poetry—which will be all the more enjoyable with one of the many tasty draft beers available on tap. Ask about their “frequent drinker program.”
Best New Literary Event
Our mission this year: to hunt down not just the best but the best values in the eating, shopping, drinking, and general-consuming universe of New York. It’s quite the process, this, requiring eating and shopping and drinking (all in the name of research), followed by heated but civil discussion, and heated but less-civil discussion, until a winner emerges in each category.
