The New York tango scene continues to snowball—from traditional gatherings like the West Village’s Tango La Nacional to novice-friendly additions like Milonga RoKo in Midtown. But visiting tangueros from the world’s tango capitals (Buenos Aires, Paris) favor All Night Milonga, a monthly Saturday-night party held in a grand ballroom. Though the skills on display can be intimidating, Latin dilettantes are welcomed by the regulars, who show up around midnight and keep kicking until sunrise. (There’s a class at 9 p.m. if you need to brush up on the steps.) The only requirements: Come looking sexy—the uniform tends toward the tight, short, and red—and wear leather-sole shoes to pivot and slide.
