Best Hotel Scene

    When it comes to rooftop hotel bars, Yogi Berra said it best: “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.” Hotel Americano’s tenth-floor bar hovers in that just-under-the-radar sweet spot, where it’s neither uncomfortably empty nor prohibitively packed. Known as La Piscine in the summer, it sees a well-heeled crowd lounging in butterfly chairs around a skinny swimming pool (roughly the length of two station wagons), sipping hibiscus margaritas and nibbling Medi-inspired tapas. In winter, the chairs are covered in sheepskin, the pool becomes a hot tub, and the space transforms into Conôsur, an après-ski-themed boîte with fondue and hot mezcal punch.
