Got a little monkey on your hands? At its weekly acrobatics classes, the Brooklyn dance and theater troupe Lava lets bounce-off-the-wall types burn off energy while building up coordination, flexibility, and some new muscles. The shockingly strong, all-female ensemble, which has performed at Dance Theater Workshop, the Flea, and Mass MOCA, translates its signature tumbles, handstands, and trapeze feats for classes of up to twelve kids, who get to work out their new tricks in Lava’s high-ceilinged, brick-walled studio in Prospect Heights. At $165, the ten-week, drop-off-only classes (parents can attend the last session) are a good deal, especially when you tack on the two free open sessions the troupe holds every week.
