- Overdyeing at Aelfie Rugs
“For the past few years, overdyed rugs—vintage carpets dunked in dark-pigment baths, giving them a deep, heavy color—have been in demand everywhere. As much as I’d love to DIY the process, it requires a ton of space and your own private washer, and it makes a pretty big mess. So I was excited that the newly opened Aelfie Rugs in Bushwick offers a by-the-foot overdyeing service. Aelfie Oudghiri has a menu of eight colors, or will mix up a custom batch if none of those is right; she charges $10 per square foot. All the trendiness of overdyed rugs without the mess of dyeing one yourself.” —Grace Bonney, founder and editor of Design*Sponge
