Butter Consignment
371 Atlantic Ave., nr. Hoyt St., Boerum Hill 718-522-3522
The merchandise mix here includes past-season items from the mother ship down the block (Butter), along with lightly worn designer pieces, which is why Butter Consignment feels more like a boutique in its own right than the usual dusty, sad way station for clothes on their way to the rag pile. It’s also clearly organized by color and style, and housed in a large, airy space, so trying on camisoles by Dries Van Noten ($230, down from $510) and ankle boots by Pierre Hardy ($398, down from $900) for a fraction of their retail price is a pleasure.
Best Consignment Store
Competition breeds the best. If only one pizzeria existed in New York, of course, there’d be no real winning slice. Thankfully, we’ll never know what that sorry situation tastes like, since pizza—like dance parties, dog runs, and fried chicken—has to evolve upward here.
