British-born Davinia Wang’s Tribeca shop is designed to look like a proper English library, which creates some cheerfully dissonant display juxtapositions with her designer shoes—an aggressive studded Alaïa stiletto sits atop a tea tray; a Vivienne Westwood platform boot leans against a pile of glossy magazines. This is not the place for a basic black pump: Wang’s taste inclines to sculptural heels, neon colors, and exotic skins, and she only buys one or two pairs of each, so styles tend to sell out fast. Her stock is not cheap by any means (from $700), but luck can strike at the end-of-season sales in June and February, which have markdowns of about 60 percent.
