There’s no shortage of qualified tailors in New York. But not all of them will sketch a suit in front of you to your exact specifications. F.I.T. alum Amber Doyle and her partner, Jake Mueser, are meticulous tailors and collaborative designers, forgoing premade patterns to create suits from scratch (starting at a comparatively reasonable $2,500; about six weeks). Recent clients have asked for looks varying from “sleek with invisible seams” to “angular coattail and Victorian details.” There are thousands of fabrics to choose from, including Super 100 wools, cashmere, mohair, and silk; sourced suppliers include Dormeuil in Italy and Holland & Sherry in England. There’s even an in-house metalsmith if you want to order custom cuff links.
