| It's All Wright |
When you think of Russel Wright, you probably think of
cool dinnerware or a recent exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt.
What you may not know is that the designer also wrote
a cookbook. Russel Wright's Menu Cookbook ($29.95)
is more than just recipes kept in a loose-leaf notebook.
Wright also specifies the color of dinnerware, which china
and linens would most enhance each meal, what to prepare
ahead of time, etc. Very Virgo. His daughter published
the selection of recipes plus a few favorites of her own.
It's a pretty extensive range -- from Christmas Buffet
and Chinese New Year to an American Casual Dinner (Shrimp
Creole, who knew?) and something called the Green and
White Cocktail party (lots of vegetables). There's also
a section of Tips for Easier Entertaining. Hmmm...it seems
Russel might have been the Martha of his generation. (Also
check out the Mary & Russel Wright Guide to Easier
Living, $18.95 from the same publisher).
Buy it online at gibbs-smith.com.
