Phone Home
I am the last person to embrace new technology. I just don’t trust it. But I do trust my tech-crazed friends, so, when one friend went on and on about ditching a regular phone line for phone service via DSL or cable modem, I was intrigued. Then, when I saw how he accessed a website where he played his voicemails, I almost died. The final straw for me was when I found out that the price for this service (which includes voicemail, call waiting, call forwarding, caller ID, unlimited long distance and this crazy ability to check everything on the web) was just $29.99 a month, I said goodbye to Verizon. It’s been two weeks since I said hello to Vonage, and I am one happy camper without a four-page phone bill. I know it’s scary to embrace new things, but if you’ve got a DSL or cable line at home you should really try this. The best part: in most cases, you get to keep your old number. Loving it!
