Zip
It Good
The eighties may be back, but many
of us don't want to revisit them: asymmetrical hair, leggings, elf
boots no, thank you. But zippers might be another story. Just
check out this lariat-style Zipper necklace. It's very "Love Is a
Battlefield" (but in a good way) and was actually designed in the
seventies by Frans van Nieuwenborg and Martijn Wegman. While it says
unisex to us, male buyers beware: This product is not chest-hair-friendly
($215).

Special Delivery
Bill Gates be damned: Snail mail is
still thriving in the electronic age. But how do you separate your
very important greetings from all the junk out there? Colored envelopes?
Over. Mylar? Done to death. Get serious and go for 3D. Tickelopes
is a mailing envelope and card all in one, surrounded by fun, foam
shapes. The 34 different designs range from a hen to a tulip to a
big ole dollar sign to, yes, a snail. They can be safely dropped in
any mailbox, with a minimum postage of 57 cents ($6.50).

Flower Power
While Christian Lacroix's frilly
frocks are not for everyone, his Pop Art-esque tabletop designs
are infinitely more accessible. Lacroix's latest outing for Christofle,
called the "Party Collection," features images taken directly from
last year's runway looks. The large red flower on these porcelain
pieces was first seen on an haute couture brooch; other items sport
polka dots and abstract swirls. This new collection ranges from
a demitasse cup ($40) to a cut-crystal goblet ($190).

Grab Bag
William Reid may have won the Perry
Ellis Award for menswear design, but his debut collection of bags
shows he also has a way with women. This denim and leather tote, for
example, is the kind of cool that appeals to both uptown and downtown
tastes. It's big (16 1/2 inches high by 15 1/2 inches wide), but with
a slim silhouette, and has an ID tag outside and a roomy zippered
pocket and attached leather key ring inside. Available in indigo denim
with either red or black leather, or chocolate-brown denim with red
leather. Once you get one, we guarantee it won't leave your side all
fall ($295).
