The rap on Hal Hartley used to be that he had no visual flair — that he'd just set the camera in one place and start filming. That may still be the case, but at least he's now setting the camera on something uneven. The trailer for Hartley's new film Fay Grim — the sequel to 1998's Janet Maslin–fueled sensation Henry Fool — contains 59 individual shots, and 58 of them are tilted to an extremely rakish angle. The only respite is a half-second insert of books being placed on a bed.

We've got vertigo! David Edelstein says the whole movie's like this. Will we pay attention to his rave, and to Logan Hill's, and watch the movie anyway? If so, we'll take our Dramamine first.
