Disney Cancels ‘Ratatouille’ Wine; Children Forced to Stick With Jose Cuervo

Last week Disney announced that it was banning smoking its family-friendly films. Now, the L.A. Times reports that the company has canceled its line of Ratatouille wines because of advertising standards banning the use of any promotion "that might appeal to people below the legal drinking age by using photos of very young models or cartoons." The 500 cases of French 2004 vintage white Burgundy, sporting an image of Remy the rat chef with a wine glass, were to hit Costco in August, but the California Wine Institute pressured Disney to put a cork in the plan. We won't argue against either decision, but we do feel for those preschoolers suddenly unsure how to impress their sandbox sweethearts. Might we suggest the Buzz Lightyear perfume? —Lori Fradkin
