Mario Testino Comes Home

Idris Khan's Surface Memories … after Mario Testino (2007) Image courtesy of the artist and Yvon Lambert, New York.

The salon-style, Mario Testino–curated exhibition "At Home" opened yesterday at Yvon Lambert to a crowd of hipsters, models, art-world royalty (Rachel Feinstein! John Currin!), Sienna Miller (looking as Edie-esque as ever), and Testino himself. Painfully slow bartenders, shutterbugs, and Sienna's side-cleavage aside, the show turned out to be remarkably anti-fashion, bringing an impressive variety of contemporary artists into Testino's imagined living room — a makeshift space complete with crown molding, a faux fireplace, back issues of ARTForum, and Testino's own colossal monographs. The exhibition includes work by Wolfgang Tillmans, Anselm Reyle, Glenn Ligon, and Anne Collier, and a small adjacent gallery showcases three Testino-commissioned works by Idris Khan. Idris Khan's tiny photographic manipulations (above) incorporate rarely seen photos by Testino of artists' studios and architectural spaces as well as the photographer's personal snapshots. —Rachel Wolff
