‘Walk Hard’ Trailer: Apatow Doesn’t Do It Again?

The Tagline: “Once in a lifetime, there comes a motion picture experience so extraordinary that it will change the world forever.”

The Translation: Yep, it's the new Judd Apatow movie.

The Verdict: Johnny Cash has been dead four years now, so we suppose it's not too soon for Apatow — producer of the world's greatest movie, Superbad — to have made this Walk the Line parody. Which doesn't mean he hasn't squeezed into a pair of Bad Idea Jeans. The plot mirrors that of the biopic, only it's retold in complete deadpan. John C. Reilly plays Dewey Cox, who as a child accidentally kills his brother in a game of “machete fight,” and draws from the resulting pain in his music career. The trailer's actually kind of funny: “Wanna play machete fight?” Ha! But we can't imagine sitting through 90 minutes of this brand of sarcastic rehash, however tasteless. — Nick Catucci
