Stephen Hunter Derails Film's Box-Office Chances Simply by Enjoying It

There's some major hand-wringing today over the box-office failure of The Invasion, the Body Snatchers remake starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, which brought in a disappointing $6 million this weekend. Some blame the lack of marketing, while others question the wisdom of opening the film directly opposite history's greatest movie. But we know what really happened…

One of the few critics to actually enjoy The Invasion was none other than Vulture buddy and Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Hunter. "The Invasion has several first-rate, terrifying action sequences and grips totally from start to finish," raved the Washington Post maverick. And moviegoers stayed away in droves.
