Calling Al Gore!

Jon Elliott’s The Raft (2006–7).Courtesy of the artist and 31 Grand, New York.
There’s something oddly beautiful about Jon Elliott’s colossal, post-apocalyptic collaged paintings (as exemplified by The Raft, above), despite their moldy tinge and torturous imagery. We’re thinking his visual musings on waste, excess, and societal decay would make for some excellent poster art for the next celebrity-endorsed, scare-you-into-recycling environmental documentary. —Rachel Wolff
