‘Iron Man’ Trailer Enough to Renew One's Faith in Huge, Cool Explosions

The Tagline: "They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I prefer the weapon you only need to fire once."

The Translation: Hang on a minute while we change our pants.

The Verdict: Okay, we're back — this movie looks awesome! Iron Man tells the story of Tony Stark, an alcoholic MIT grad who builds himself a flying, flame-throwing suit of armor for the express purpose of kicking lots of ass. With the wrong director, it could've been merely excellent, but in Jon Favreau's geeky hands, it stands a pretty good chance of owning the box office, sweeping the Oscars, and dethroning Cloverfield as the movie we're most excited to see in 2008.

Robert Downey Jr. does his best Dennis Hopper impression, and things explode to the riff from Black Sabbath's "Iron Man." What's not to love? Answer: Nothing. Also, IMDb tells us that our favorite rapper Ghostface Killah (who sometimes goes by Tony Starks) makes a cameo. We will be purchasing our tickets just as soon as Fandango.com makes them available.
