Schreiber Plays Comic-Book Villain: 20th Century Fox announces a May 1, 2009, release date for the X-Men spinoff Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman returning for the title role and Liev Schreiber in final talks for the role of young General Stryker, the character played by Brian Cox in X2. Fox is also developing a Magneto spinoff, and after that, let's hope, a whole movie about the guy from the first one with the really long tongue. [Variety]
Unlike a Rock: Just as his album Rock N’ Roll Jesus debuts at No. 1, Kid Rock is parting ways with his manager, Ed “Punch” Andrews, who also reps Bob Seger. Neither side could be reached for comment, and rumors that Andrews needed more time to focus on a forthcoming Seger sex tape could not be confirmed. [Billboard]
Power Unveils Jukebox: Cat Power’s Chan Marshall announces the track list for her forthcoming album of covers, titled Jukebox and out January 22. Broadway to Die: Xanadu producers Tara Smith and B. Zwibel are developing a musical version of the 1995 darkly comic Nicole Kidman film To Die For. No dumber than basing a musical on a 1400-page Victor Hugo novel from 1862, we guess, but still pretty dubious. [Variety]
