The debonair crooner won an Emmy, a Tony, and a Grammy, and also took on, as the Times obit puts it, "novel assignments," which means his YouTube appearances are fascinating.
You can see the serious Goulet, as he sings "Soliloquy" from Carousel in 1967, or duets with Shirley Bassey on a lovely "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" from sometime in the seventies. And check out the exhausting nine-minute video, Robert Goulet: The Man and His Music, for a career overview. And get a glimpse of Goulet as the Broadway star he seemed destined to be in this "Tribute to the 1962 Broadway Season," a long medley duet with Barbara Cook.
But you can also see the funny Robert Goulet: In his 1996 ESPN spots, or this year's Emerald Nuts Super Bowl ad, featuring a mischievous Goulet sneaking into an office and wreaking havoc on sleeping employees. Very little, of course, tops his appearance in "Weird Al" Yankovic's 1992 video for "You Don't Love Me Anymore," in which Goulet is stabbed in the eye and has his hand chopped off.
And no video tribute to Goulet would be complete without Will Ferrell's Saturday Night Live impersonation of Goulet singing Sisqo's "Thong Song."
