Could Dan Brown Be Any More Obvious?

If you've been losing sleep wondering which part of history Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown will make stuff up about next, you can finally rest easy — his forthcoming book, tentatively titled The Solomon Key, finds Code protagonist Robert Langdon investigating the Masonic symbols etched into the streets and buildings of Washington, D.C. Given that Brown's entire M.O. is having his scholarly hero decode age-old messages to discover long-hidden conspiracies, we can think of no more obvious choice for a topic than the Masons and their role in the early history of the United States. One can only assume that he's already begun the research for his next books on the Egyptian pyramids, Easter Island, and Area 51. —Matthew Perpetua
