Pfeiffer, Kutcher Collect Personal Effects: Michelle Pfeiffer and Ashton Kutcher will co-star in Personal Effects, based on the Rick Moody short story about a wedding planner coming to term with his sister’s death. Not even Pfeiffer could lure us to a movie in which Kutcher attempts to grieve onscreen. [Coming Soon]

Avril Tour Gets Even More Complicated: Avril Lavigne will embark on a 32-city tour this spring in support of her recently released album Best Damn Thing. Though her last tour featured the singer backed only by a few musicians, this one will feature an expanded band and even dancers. No doubt someone will explain at a later date how that’s totally punk rock. [Billboard]

Polanski Sees Ghost: Roman Polanski will direct The Ghost, based on Robert Harris’s new novel about a ghostwriter hired to finish the memoirs of a late British prime minister who uncovers dangerous secrets about his subject. Vulture’s position is that thrillers with writers as their heroes are both plausible and sexy! [Variety]

Del Toro Revives Champions: Guillermo Del Toro will adapt and direct a feature adaptation of the cult British science-fiction series The Champions, about three government agents who gain superpowers after their plane crashes in the Himalayas. Boy, they’re really getting to the bottom of the TV-adaptation barrel, huh? Soon only Cop Rock will remain. [HR]

Greenwood to Trek: Terminally underused Bruce Greenwood will be underused some more as Christopher Pike, the initial Enterprise captain who is quickly replaced by Kirk, in the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie. [HR]
