‘PBF’s first book compiles hilariously sick strips.

  • 11/12/07 at 4:29 PM

Our favorite squirm comedy appears not on the big screen but the page, in the form of Nicholas Gurewitch’s deliciously unsettling comic strip the Perry Bible Fellowship. He cunningly manipulates his blobby, brightly colored characters for sneak-attack laughs, from cruel boardroom pranksters to unstable kids to talking cars. Spend ten minutes clicking “random” on his Website, then just try and stop. The Trial of Colonel Sweeto and Other Stories, the first PBF book, compiles the very best of these strips in convenient bathroom-reading form. (Read our interview with Gurewitch—if you dare!)
