Artist Tamir Sher Says There's Life on Mars, But It's Kind of Dull

Tamir Sher’s Mars #8 (2007).Image courtesy of the artist and Point of View Gallery, New York.
Tamir Sher imagines a slightly off-kilter homecoming, modeling photographs of her native Tel Aviv after shots taken on an expedition to Mars. The tenement-like structures and eerie, postapocalyptic emptiness suggest a bleak future for both planets. Happy New Year, everyone! The exhibition is up at Chelsea's Point of View Gallery through tomorrow. —Rachel Wolff
