Deerhunter's Bradford Cox gets together with Black Lips' Cole Alexander to create a garage-rock Frankenstein. The pairing makes sense, even if the lyrics don't. [Pitchfork]

These noisy Glaswegians play garage rock that's as combustible as it is melodic. More important, though, they have a cute drummer. [Pop Cop]
4. The Rural Alberta Advantage, "Don't Haunt This Place"
While this Toronto band's name is probably a cruel joke aimed at those who live too far out of Calgary to enjoy its rich nightlife, maybe listening to their sunny, hooky pop will be some consolation. [Emmet Matheson]
5. Catcall, "Chicky Babe"
Sounding like cross between Le Tigre and Peaches, Catherine Kelleher gets annoyed at some dude who's trying to give her a shout. Ironic, given her stage name. [Nicky Stardust]
