Hayden Panettiere May Love You: Hayden Panettiere will not especially stretch in her first bid for big-screen stardom in I Love You, Beth Cooper, for which she’s in talks to play a cheerleader who is drawn into misadventures after the school nerd proclaims his love for her in his valedictorian speech. (Chris Columbus may direct.) We truly hope this will be released the same weekend as I Love You, Phillip Morris. [Variety]
Olyphant Makes Getaway: On the heels of his utter failure to be scary in last summer’s Live Free or Die Hard, Timothy Olyphant will next try his hand at being scared in David Twohy’s thriller A Perfect Getaway, about a couple stalked by killers in their honeymoon. [HR]
No Peace, Then, Presumably: There will be no justice for Warner Bros., as the studio shelves their incipient D-list blockbuster Justice League of America. [Variety]
Rebeck Burns Down Our House: Fresh from ripping the scab off the festering world of stamp collecting in her recent Broadway debut Mauritius, Theresa Rebeck gets really dangerous with Our House, which opens this month at the Denver Center Theater Company under the direction of Daniel Fish and is described as — wait for it — a “satiric skewering of reality television.” Get the pitchforks and torches, she's satirizing reality television! [Playbill]
Gallo Is Giallo: Maybe Giallo, the new Dario Argento film starring Vincent Gallo as a serial killer drawn to stylish young women, pursued by a loner cop played by Ray Liotta, and with Argento’s daughter Asia Argento somehow in the mix won’t be the scariest movie of all time, but it sure might be the most demented.
