The final season of ‘The Wire’: the greatest event of ’08?

Our heartbeat spiked when we saw the tantalizing, McNulty-is-
drinking-again
teaser trailer; now that the fifth and final season of the greatest show of all time is upon us, we’re very nearly experiencing tachycardia. This time out, as you surely know, the Baltimore Sun newsroom takes center stage, introducing, says John Leonard, “a brand-new cast of characters to disappoint us” — in a good, emotionally challenging way! Neophytes can easily get into the program now, but we promise you’ll want to go back and watch it from the very beginning. (Meanwhile, hear Baltimore club artists at Friday nights’s soundtrack release party.)
