Producers Guild Noms ‘No Country,’ ‘Juno,’ ‘Diving Bell’; Snubs ‘Atonement,’ ‘Sweeney’

With the announcement of the Producers Guild award nominations yesterday, all the Oscar precursors have pretty much finished up. The guilds have all announced their honored films, the Globes have been given out by famed cinephile Billy Bush, the critics have all weighed in, and the box office has made itself clear.

The 3,300-member guild nominated The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Juno, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men, and There Will Be Blood. So what does it mean for the Oscars? Perhaps it's time to throw up our hands and say, hell if we know!

Since when does the Producers Guild snub not one but both Golden Globe Best Pictures? Atonement and Sweeney Todd are nowhere to be seen on the PGA list — or the DGA list for that matter. At this point we feel like there are about ten different movies with good arguments for a Best Picture slot. Cripes, awards predicting is for morons. We'll go ahead and keep on doing it, though, because we are indeed morons.
