Weinsteins Make a Deal: The Weinstein Co. has struck an interim agreement with the WGA that will allow them to hire writers again. Variety says it's identical to the arrangement that Tom Cruise's United Artists made recently, except the Weinstein Company won't use their deal to make a movie about Hitler. [Variety]

Leno Still Beating Letterman: Despite its lack of writers and decent guests, Jay Leno's Tonight Show is still beating the WGA-approved Letterman in the ratings, which means not only are writers not important — neither are celebrities. [Variety]
