WGA Interim Deals Give Boost to Great TV Shows, Crappy Superhero Movies

Mad Men; Weeds; Ant-Man.Courtesy of AMC, Showtime, and Marvel

Fans of Mad Men and Weeds should rejoice today, as the studio that produces them, Lionsgate, just struck an interim deal with the WGA that should allow new seasons of the critically beloved cable series to begin production as soon as possible. Fans of lousy superhero movies should also rejoice, as Marvel Entertainment has also signed an interim deal, meaning that projects like Thor, The Avengers, and Ant-Man may now move forward. Alongside word that the WGA and the AMPTP are meeting informally for the third straight day, this is all very good news, even if we'd rather eat tacks than watch Ant-Man: The Movie.
