Hollywood Steve — host of Yacht Rock, our favorite Web-video spoof show — has told the “true stories” behind ten of the titular smooth-music subgenre’s greatest hits, but he and his conspirators have truly outdone themselves with this, the long-awaited episode number eleven, “Footloose”: When Jimmy Buffet, “tropics-obsessed lunatic,” snares Kenny Loggins in a theme-music extortion attempt, it’s up to coconut-rum-addled Michael McDonald, and a very literal understanding of the phrase “cut footloose,” to save the day.
