We don't know about you, but the Times slideshow accompanying this Sunday's interesting "Arts & Leisure" profile of Jasper Johns was, in a word, unsurprising. The title of Johns's upcoming Met show? "Gray." The slideshow? Gray, gray, gray, gray. We basically fell asleep while clicking through. Gray, gray, gray, gray, gray, gray, gray, gray, WHOA! What the hell is that?! Okay, gray, gray, gray.
We understand the commendable idea of an intensely focused show on an important contemporary artist, but does this slideshow make you want to actually go to the Met and look at a bunch of gray paintings? Perhaps while listening to Metal Machine Music and eating porridge? Not us. Give us some red instead!
