A Fairy Tale More Real Than Bursting Into Song in Public

  • 3/18/08 at 1:45 PM

You want your kids to believe in happy endings, but you don’t want them waiting around for Prince Charming. Enchanted, Disney's alt-fairy-tale musical starring a bewildered Amy Adams as a princess in the Big Apple, sends such a pitch-perfect message to New York kids, by tempering its wide-eyed optimism with a kick of reality, or at least the kind of reality where people burst into song in Central Park. The DVD has a cool bonus feature that follows CGI chipmunk Pip on a pop-up storybook-style adventure through the streets of Manhattan.
