Artist Matthew Sleeth Visits an Umbrella Cemetery

Apparently umbrellas are crappy the world over: Here lies a pile of them discarded on a drizzly Tokyo street (and notice the girl toting a freshly wrapped one in the background hasn’t learned her lesson — they’re not worth your yen!). Matthew Sleeth is showing his wily urban images, taken mostly in Japan and China, at Aperture Gallery through May 17. —Emma Pearse
