Is Clint Eastwood Making a New ‘Dirty Harry’?

We sure hope nobody called a bookie, because today Ain't it Cool News is reporting that Gran Torino could actually be the sixth installment in the Dirty Harry series. According to a tipster, Village Roadshow Pictures (who have a co-production agreement with Warner) is looking to buy a 1972 Ford Gran Torino to use in "a new Clint Eastwood movie," purportedly about "a killer that drives a certain Torino. His 1972 Ford Gran Torino is the only thing the police have on him. A retired police lieutenant, one Harry Callahan, makes it his mission to track down the culprit when two young police officers, one Callahan's grandson, are shot and killed by the guy." (Spoiler alert: At the end, he probably shoots the guy.)
Given that Eastwood will turn 400 this year, we're not sure how fit he is to take on an action role (probably not very). So we're willing to at least entertain the possibility that it might not win the Academy Award for Best Picture (even though it's still a lock to sweep the Golden Globes). But this has to be at least as good as Rambo, right?
Dirty Harry is back and he's looking for a 1972 Ford GRAN TORINO!!! [Ain't It Cool]
