While galleries around town are hanging bright, blooming summery things like
theatrical watering cans and
wild petals, the folks at Lesley Heller Gallery uptown have outfitted their garden through July 11 with globular, oozing objects created by
Ming Fay out of urethane foam and paper pulp. Fay says his art represents a metaphorical garden of a man’s mind. Here,
Monkey Pot, all ick and gore, seems to be more specifically referring to the garden of Steven Spielberg’s mind: We’re seeing the chilled monkey brains he fed Kate Capshaw in
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Ah, dessert.
