Sure, Lin-Manuel Miranda invited Antonio Banderas backstage at Wednesday’s matinee of In the Heights, but he’s not offering him a part in the show yet. “Uh, our cast is a big happy family, and, uh, Antonio’s a wonderful guy,” Miranda stammered when we asked at the launch of Banderas’s fragrance, Blue Seduction for Women. “But who knows? Hopefully we’ll run a long time and Antonio will be part of the Heights universe in some way,” he added diplomatically. Banderas arrived and a gaggle of reporters swarmed, but we managed to find out that he’s got his own plans for a Broadway return. “I am working with David Leveaux, who was the director of Nine, on that possibility," Banderas told us. The project, he said, is Don Giovanni. Wait — is Banderas singing opera on Broadway? Or performing in the José Saramago play Don Giovanni we didn't know existed until we saw it on Wikipedia? Alas, his publicist whisked him away. —Bennett Marcus
