Are You Ready to See ‘The Dark Knight’ at 6 A.M.?

Courtesy of Warner Bros.

The New York Times reports today that, owing to overwhelming demand and already-sold-out screenings next weekend, some movie theaters will show The Dark Knight at the ungodly hour of 6 a.m. — on Imax screens! — for fans who were unable to purchase tickets for more reasonable times, like 3 a.m. We suppose the film's dark color palette should help to keep any actual retina searing to a minimum, but will fans honestly be able to appreciate Heath Ledger's incendiary final film performance before they've showered or eaten breakfast? And is the bleakest-ever superhero movie, projected onto a 75-foot-high screen and blasted through a hundred speakers, really the ideal way to begin one's day? Who would subject themselves to such a thing? And shouldn't those people still be waiting in line for the next iPhone anyway?
