Artist Adam Wallacavage: the Undisputed World Leader in Barnacled Light Fixtures

Adam Wallacavage, a skilled plasterer who apparently lives in the pages of a Jules Verne novel, has submerged Chelsea's Jonathan LeVine Gallery through July 26, decking it with gaudy, barnacled chandeliers with names like Lady Pinkwater and Nina Simone that seem to want to wind their shiny tendrils around you like some sort of sea monster. One can only imagine the nursery of Wallcagave’s progeny: a gooey little lair where Nemo might fancy hiding out. —Emma Pearse
