One of our favorite new comics series is
"Next-Door Neighbor," a collection of true-life tales of urban proximity from some great comics artists, being posted biweekly at SMITH Magazine, the online literary magazine whose previous comics have included
Shooting War and the Hurricane Katrina story
After the Deluge. Recent "Next-Door Neighbor" stories have come from Jonathan Ames,
Nick Bertozzi,
Ed Piskor, and Kevin Colden; now Vulture is excited to offer "The Next Door Neighbor I Don't Know," a brand-new story from Harvey Pekar (
American Splendor) and
Rick Veitch (
Army @ Love). "The Next Door Neighbor I Don't Know" will appear on SMITH's site next week, but they've given it to us exclusively until then.
After the jump, check out the six-page story from two modern masters.
