According to Variety, expeditious director Quentin Tarantino is currently in talks with Universal to finance and distribute (along with the Weinstein Company) his long-delayed, nowhere-near-done WWII movie, Inglorious Bastards, which he’s repeatedly promised to complete in time for next May’s Cannes Film Festival. Vulture buddy Nikki Finke says the deal’s already done, despite Universal’s problems with Bastard’s likely star, Brad Pitt, over his last-minute dropping out of State of Play in November, and the bad blood between the Weinstein Co. and NBC-Universal over Harvey moving Project Runway to Lifetime.

We’re glad to hear everyone’s been able to put their differences aside and that a couple of minor blood feuds won’t stand in the way of Tarantino’s timely delivery of Bastards. We’ve just got one question — what the hell was he doing at the Swing Vote premiere? He’s got work to do!
