While presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has made no secret of his profound appreciation for the cheerless, nihilistic coke rap of Young Jeezy, his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, recently came under fire for his relatively non-edgy musical tastes. But yesterday, at a campaign stop in Powder Springs, Georgia, the Illinois senator name-checked popular emcee Lil Wayne during a speech on the impossibility of achieving one's dreams: "You are probably not that good a rapper," he told a town-hall meeting full of presumably crushed children with mix tapes to promote. "Maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school." What Obama apparently doesn't realize is that it's possible to get an education and be a platinum-selling hip-hop superstar (Lil Wayne completed high school and even attended the University of Houston as a poli-sci major). Shameful!
